The Western Lakes and Mountains region spans most of Maine's western border with New Hampshire. A small part of the scenic White Mountain National Forest is located in this area. The region consists of Oxford County , Androscoggin County , Franklin County , as well as northern York and interior Cumberland counties.
The Worumbo Mill was a historic mill on the bank of the Androscoggin River in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Founded in 1864, it was at one point the community's largest employer. Its main building, dating to its founding, was destroyed by fire in 1987. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and was delisted in 2017. [1]

October 28, 1970 [1] The Hallowell Historic District encompasses the historic 18th and 19th-century heart of Hallowell, Maine . The city developed as a major port on the Kennebec River , during which time its downtown and adjacent residential area were built up.
[1] The 2012 race was held on Sept. 30, and the 2013 event was held on Oct. 6. The 2020 in-person edition of the race was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic , with all registrants given the option of running the race virtually (and obtaining a partial refund), transferring their entry to 2021, or obtaining a full refund.
The Trek Across Maine is a multi-day, multi-route option cycling event, beginning and ending in Brunswick, Maine. [1] [2] The event draws an estimated 2,000 cyclists and 750 volunteers annually. [3] Hosted by the American Lung Association, the Trek Across Maine has raised more than $24 million since its inception. [4] [5]
The Old Port district is located on the southeastern side of the Portland peninsula, overlooking the wide mouth of the Fore River and the Port of Portland.It is bounded on the east by Franklin Street (U.S. Route 1A), with Commercial Street running southwest along the waterfront, and 19th-century buildings on its north side as far west as Maple Street.
