Connecticut Agricultural College played its first organized men's basketball game on February 8, 1901, a 17–12 win against Willimantic High School. [13] The victory led the school to add men's basketball as a varsity sport the following year. [14] The program's first intercollegiate game came in the 1904–05 season, a 66–22 loss to UMass.
