From 1940 to 1950, the cost per acre of land in Gatlinburg increased from $50 (equivalent to $1,000 in 2023) to $8,000 (equivalent to $101,000 in 2023). [ 33 ] While the park's arrival benefited Gatlinburg and made many of the town's residents wealthy, the tourism explosion led to problems with air quality and urban sprawl .
Ober Mountain Adventure Park & Ski Area, formerly known as Ober Gatlinburg, is a ski area and amusement park located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, that was established in 1962. The area also contains a large mall with indoor amusements, an indoor ice skating rink , snack bars , a restaurant, and stores.
The architectural project began in 1979, and during the early 1980s three houses were built in different parts of the United States: one each in Kissimmee, Florida; Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The houses included novel construction and design techniques, and became popular tourist attractions during the 1980s.

Perry's Camp, now known as Flat Branch Cottages, was founded c. 1928 when Charlie Perry developed the site where Flat Branch joins the Little Pigeon River as a tourist resort. [1] Located between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee , Perry's Camp was one of the first tourist courts in the area that has since become a tourist mecca.
