During the 1991–92 academic year, more than 4,000 students, half of whom were women, studied at the University of Bahrain. [1] Kingdom University was founded in 2001 and opened in Riffa in 2004. In 2008 a new Bahrain Polytechnic opened on the University of Bahrain's old campus location at Isa Town.
