Francis Marion Pottenger Jr. (May 29, 1901 – January 4, 1967) was an American physician and raw food diet advocate. He was best known for his cat study that sparked interest in a diet high in raw animal products including uncooked meats and unpasteurized dairy. Pottenger was a disciple of Canadian dentist and diet food advocate Weston A. Price.
Pottenger obtained his MD from the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery in 1894. [1] He qualified A.M. from Otterbein University in 1907 and L.L.D. in 1909. [2] His wife Carrie Burtner died from tuberculosis in 1898 which prompted him to establish the Pottenger Sanitorium in Monrovia, California in 1903.

In 1969, after Pottenger's death, the organization became the Price Pottenger Foundation, and then the Price Pottenger Nutrition Foundation in 1972. PPNF now houses over 10,000 books and publications, including the works of Dr. Royal Lee, Dr. Melvin Page, Dr. Emanuel Cheraskin, Dr. William Albrecht, and others.
