Praia dos Açores is a beach-side district on the south side of the Island of Santa Catarina in the state of Santa Catarina in Brazil. The beach is 31 km from the Centro downtown region of Florianópolis .
The first legal document identified to create a protected area in the Azores, was Decree 78/72 (7 March 1972), [2] which created the Reserva Integral da Caldeira do Faial (Integrated Reserve of the Faial Caldera), which was closely followed by Decree 79/72 (8 March 1972), that established the Reserva Integral da Montanha da ilha do Pico (Integrated Reserve of the Mountain of the Island of Pico).
There is an indication that Terceira may have been discovered by Vicente de Lagos, Velho Cabral's pilot, on 1 January 1445: [4] the first documents after this period started appearing with a third island in the Azorean archipelago, referred to as the Ilha de Jesus Cristo (Island of Jesus Christ), and later, Ilha de Jesus Cristo da Terceira.
The Ilha Grande mangroves ecoregion (WWF ID: NT1415) covers a series of disconnected salt-water and brackish mangrove forests along the southeastern coast of Brazil on the South Atlantic Ocean. The ecoregion is defined as covering the mangroves found between the Paraíba do Sul River in the north to Florianópolis in the south.
