Live broadcasts of Formula One Championship races were available on Viasat's pay-TV-channel V Sport + / 1 / 2, which replaced C More Max in 2022. Current main commentator since 2017 is Niki Juusela. In 1995 it was announced that the BBC had lost the television broadcast rights to Formula One to ITV for the 1997 season. Murray Walker would continue in his role as the lead commentator. [ 8 ] The final race broadcast by the programme was the 1996 Japanese Grand Prix in which viewers saw Damon Hill win his only world championship.
The BBC covered Formula One from 1978 until 1996 and from 2009 to 2015. The BBC provided live coverage of all races from 1995 to 1996 and again from 2009 to 2011, but from 2012 to 2015 the BBC showed 10 races live each season and highlights of all the races including the ones shown live.
The 60-lap race was the eighth round of the 2009 Formula One season. It was scheduled to be the last British Grand Prix to be held at Silverstone, before the event moved to Donington Park for the 2010 season. However, due to Donington being unable to raise the required funds the event returned to Silverstone again in 2010, on a new layout.

The BBC had exclusive UK F1 rights from 2009 until the end of the 2013 season, [1] having regained the rights from ITV.However, a new broadcast rights deal was announced on 29 July 2011, stating that Sky Sports would cover all races live. [2]
