Umarkhadi was one of the 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra, a western state of India. Umarkhadi was also part of Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency . [ 1 ] Umarkhadi existed till 2004 elections, which was later merged with Mumbadevi Assembly constituency in 2008.

Umarkhed Assembly constituency is one of the 288 constituencies of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha [1] and one of the seven which are located in Yavatmal district of the Indian state of Maharashtra.
As of 2011 India census, [4] Umarkhed had a population of 47,458. Males constitute 51.13% of the population and females 48.87%. Umarkhed has an average literacy rate of 76.16%, higher than the national average of 61.5%: male literacy is 80.19%, and female literacy is 71.94%.

St. Joseph's started in 1875 as an elementary Portuguese school, before being changed into an English school. In 1930, the school was raised to the status of English-teaching middle school. In 1931, the school moved into the present building and in 1932, St. Joseph's became a high school.
The cherry-throated tanager (Nemosia rourei) is a critically endangered bird native to the Atlantic Forest in Brazil. Since its description in 1870, there had been no confirmed sightings for more than 100 years, and it was feared that the species was extinct.
