The Vermont Department of Corrections is the government agency in the U.S. state of Vermont charged with overseeing correctional facilities, supervising probation and parolees, and serving in an advisory capacity in the prevention of crime and juvenile delinquency. It is a part of the Vermont Agency of Human Services.
The Northern State Correctional Facility (NSCF) is a state prison in the city of Newport, Orleans County, Vermont, USA. It holds up to 433 medium security male prisoners [2] and is the largest prison in Vermont. [3] The Vermont Department of Corrections is responsible for running this prison.

The program was relocated from Northwest State Correctional Facility in St. Albans to Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield. The program has 45 to 48 beds and is 24 to 36 months long. Offenders are subjected to about eight hours of treatment weekly. The program is staffed on-site by 3 full-time mental health professionals. . [1]
