Sacred Heart Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church on Lumen Christi Lane in Salisbury, North Carolina, United States. The building cost $9.4 million, [1] has 12,083 square feet (1,122.5 m 2) and measures 60 by 170 feet (52 m), seating 760, on 107 acres (0.43 km 2) of land. In 2011, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge announced the construction of a new cathedral to replace the existing Sacred Heart Cathedral, due to the need for a larger church to accommodate the growing number of Catholics. Fundraising for the cathedral campaign began in September 2011. Groundbreaking for the cathedral took place on January 3, 2015.
