Teresa of Ávila [b] OCD (born Teresa Sánchez de Cepeda Dávila y Ahumada; [c] 28 March 1515 – 4 or 15 October 1582), [a] also called Saint Teresa of Jesus, was a Carmelite nun and prominent Spanish mystic and religious reformer.
The two central sculptural figures of the swooning nun and the angel with the spear derive from an episode described by Teresa of Avila, a mystical cloistered Discalced Carmelite reformer and nun, in her autobiography, The Life of Teresa of Jesus. Her experience of religious ecstasy in her encounter with the angel is described as follows:
It shows a vision described by Teresa of Avila in her autobiography and (with two other versions in a private collection [3] and at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge) is one of three surviving versions of the subject by the artist.

Teresa de Jesús is a Spanish television mini-series produced by Televisión Española and broadcast in its Primera Cadena in 1984. Directed by Josefina Molina and written by Víctor García de la Concha , Carmen Martín Gaite and Molina herself, it stars Concha Velasco as Teresa of Avila .

The Cathedral of St. Theresa of Avila [1] (Serbian and Croatian: Katedrala Svete Terezije Avilske, Hungarian: A szabadkai Szent Teréz székesegyház) is a Latin Catholic cathedral and minor basilica located in Subotica, Serbia, the seat of the Diocese of Subotica.
