The Northport Historic District comprises the central business district of Northport, Alabama.The district comprises 20 blocks and 134 structures, dating mainly to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly 1920–1925, when the town was rebuilt after a period of decline caused by an 1850 fire and the American Civil War.

The location cited was originally known as "Red Hook", and was centered on what is now the intersection of NYS Route 25A, Main Street, Waterside Avenue, and Vernon Valley Road. When the village of Northport was incorporated in the late 1800s, the northwest quadrant of the area fell within the new village limits.
Despite the fact that East Northport is primarily south of Northport, the area became known thereafter as East Northport. [4] The Larkfield Post Office formally changed its name to East Northport in 1910. [3] The East Northport, New York post office building was renamed the Jerome Anthony Ambro, Jr. Post Office Building in 1998.
