The Carson City Mint was a branch of the United States Mint in Carson City, Nevada. It primarily minted silver coins; however, it also minted gold coins, with a total face value in dollars nearly equal to that of its silver coins. The mint minted coins in 21 different years.
The United States Mint also operated its branch of the Carson City Mint between the years of 1870 and 1893, which struck gold and silver coins of United States currency. People came from China during that time, many to work on the transcontinental railroad being constructed. Some of them owned businesses and taught school.

Nevada State Museum, Carson City came into force by conserving the Carson City mint. The mint was in operation from 1870 to 1893 but it houses the earliest coin press which operates from here until date. Coin Press No. 1 which is the sole coin press generates medallions with the famed CC mint mark even now. The museum was opened in 1941.
