In 2005 Anova Books bought Conway Maritime Press. Around this time the publisher was renamed Conway Publishing. Whilst still committed to producing specialist maritime books, Conway broadened their catalogue to incorporate general, military and aviation history, exploration, as well as railway and scale modelling (with Hornby and Airfix), amongst other related topics.

In 1898, the Naval Institute Press was created to publish basic naval guides. [3] The most popular of these, The Bluejacket's Manual, is on its 25th edition, and is still issued to all enlistees of the U.S. Navy. [4] The press eventually expanded to publish more general-interest titles in history, biography, and current affairs.
Roughly a third are written by active-duty personnel, a third by retired military, and a third by civilians. Proceedings also frequently carries feature articles by Secretaries of Defense, Secretaries of the Navy, Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and top leaders of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

The son of Torrence Manasseh and Helen Margaret (Gans) Cutler, Thomas J. Cutler was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 30, 1947. He graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 and later earned a Master of Arts degree at Norwich University in 1988.
Naval History is a bimonthly magazine published by the United States Naval Institute since 1987. The 72-page publication includes feature articles spanning the course of naval history written by significant scholars of their subject but also has standing features, including "Looking Back," "On Our Scope," "Naval History News," "Book Reviews," and "Museum Report."
The English version, known as Combat Fleets of the World, has been published by Naval Institute Press in Annapolis (United States) since 1977. The latest English edition, the 16th, was published in 2013 . The latest French edition was published in 2018.
