White Hills is a section of the city of Shelton, Connecticut. It is one of the oldest parts of the city, with historical buildings dating to the early 18th century. It is the most rural part of Shelton, though much of it is now suburban. White Hills got its name for the higher altitude it has compared with the rest of Shelton.
The area that is now Shelton was settled by English colonists in the 17th century as part of Stratford. In 1717 a Congregationalist parish was established, and in 1789 the town of Huntington was incorporated, including what is now neighboring Monroe. The site of the early parish became the center of the new town.
Since the early 1990s, rural and southern portions of the Naugatuck Valley have evolved into sprawling commuter towns. Communities like Shelton and Oxford have become popular bedroom communities for residents working in New York City and lower Fairfield County. It splits from Connecticut Route 25 at the Bridgeport—Trumbull town line and continues north into southeastern Trumbull and Shelton, then beyond the county through some of towns of the Naugatuck River Valley to Waterbury and beyond.

St Lawrence Parish is located in the Huntington section of Shelton and, with over 3,000 registered families, is one of the largest parishes in the Diocese. The modern church was constructed shortly after the parish was formed in 1955. The architect was J. Gerald Phelan. A recent renovation doubled the size of the church and added a parish center.
