Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) is an epiphytic flowering plant that often grows upon large trees in tropical and subtropical climates. It is native to much of Mexico , Bermuda , the Bahamas , Central America , South America (as far south as northern Patagonia ), [ 4 ] the Southern United States , and West Indies .
Tillandsia is a genus of around 649 species of evergreen, perennial flowering plants in the family Bromeliaceae, native to the forests, mountains and deserts of the Neotropics, from northern Mexico and the southeastern United States to Mesoamerica and the Caribbean to central Argentina.
Caloglossa beccarii is most closely related to C. stipitata and C. fluviatilis. [1] The species has leafy branches that range in color from dark brown to violet. [2] It may grow to be between 2–5 inches (5–10 cm) in length, and forms rhizoids which anchor the plant to surfaces.

Dendroalsia is common moss throughout the Pacific Northwest (California, Oregon, Washington, and into British Columbia). Its range extends from Los Angeles County and the Channel Islands to Vancouver Island. It is very common in the oak woodlands of the Inner Coast Ranges, Sacramento Valley, and Willamette Valley. [3]
