Kibuishi was born April 8, 1978, in Tokyo, Japan. [1] [2] [3] He moved to the United States with his mother and brother in 1982.[2] [3]Kibuishi enrolled at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1996 to pursue a degree in film studies.[4]
