Goodricke College is a college of the University of York.It was founded in 1968 and named after the astronomer John Goodricke. [3] The college has approximately 1500 undergraduate members, of which some 500 live in college accommodation, and about 140 postgraduate members, of which most live in college accommodation.

Used as undergraduate accommodation, the former blocks A and B were renamed when the college let go of its old C block.

York University was established in 1959 as a non-denominational institution by the York University Act, [5] which received royal assent in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on 26 March of that year. [6] Its first class was held in September 1960 in Falconer Hall on the University of Toronto campus with a total of 76 students. [7]
Derwent College is home to the university's Politics, [11] Education, [12] English and Related Literature, [13] and School of PPE departments. [ 14 ] Derwent College came to have a close association with Long Boi , an Indian Runner duck - Mallard cross who was most often seen Heslington Fishpond and wandering around Derwent Common. [ 15 ]
