Minster Abbey is the name of two abbeys in Minster-in-Thanet, Kent, England. The first was a 7th-century foundation which lasted until the Dissolution of the Monasteries . Beside its ruins is St Mildred's Priory , a Benedictine community of women founded in 1937.

The Digby Chantry Chapel (the Chapel of St John the Evangelist) was built in 1859, [10] and St Joseph's Chapel was built in 1893 by Viscountess Southwell to mark the coming of age of her son, who had been educated at the monks' school in Ramsgate (St Augustine's College). The 13th-century parish church of St Nicholas, after which the village and parish are named, was a chapel of ease for St Mary's Church at Reculver. The first rector is recorded as Adam de Brancestre in 1294. Built in flint, the church houses some fine 16th-century brasses, a carved oak pulpit dated 1615, and a coat of arms of King George III. [5]
