The first monthly publication on the islands was The Gospel of the Kingdom, a religious themed newspaper founded in 1945. In 1964, the newspaper Tradewinds began publication. This was joined by the rival Caymanian Weekly in 1965. This was followed by a second weekly publication, the Cayman Compass, which started in 1972.

dms Broadcasting is a broadcasting company operating four radio stations in the Cayman Islands. The company is an affiliate of dms Organization Ltd, a business conglomerate engaged in the financial services, real estate and media industries. The stations include 96.5 CayRock, Hot 104.1, 106.1 Kiss FM, and X107.1. [1]
The station was granted a license to broadcast by the ICTA along with sister stations, HOT 104.1 and 106.1 KISS FM on 15 July 2004. [3] On 12 January 2005, the Cayman Islands Government announced the station had negotiated a deal with dms Broadcasting to allow broadcasting of all three stations from a government owned tower, thus eliminating the need to erect a new tower.
