Sigma Tau was an engineering honor society. [1] [2] In 1974, it merged with Tau Beta Pi, the oldest engineering honor society and the second oldest collegiate honor society in the United States. As part of the merger, Tau Beta Pi absorbed twelve Sigma Tau chapters into its existing chapters located on the same campuses.
