In 1935 a museum was opened for public tours. The museum has been operating for nearly 60 years in its current location. [1] [2] Until 2020, when eleven of the museums were closed by Wells Fargo, it was a group of twelve museums operated in multiple cities in the United States. [3]
In 1872, Wells Fargo, established a stage coach stop. This served as a water stop for miners, cattle drivers, sheepherders and travelers on the Black Canyon trail. The first post office was established in 1894 and named "Cañon", with Charles E. Goddard as postmaster, and was discontinued in October 1899. [1] [2]
The museum had various exhibits. Among the exhibits was a replica of a 19th-century Wells Fargo bank branch. [1] [2] [3] Following its closure due to COVID-19 restrictions in early 2020, the museum was closed permanently in September 2020, along with most other Wells Fargo Museums. [4]
