Simões began playing football with the youth academy of Portimonense, before moving to the youth side of Sporting CP in 2018. On 11 February 2021, he signed a youth contract with Sporting. Born in Porto, Maga played youth football for four clubs, starting out at FC Porto and finishing his development at Vitória de Guimarães. [2] On 21 April 2022, he signed a professional contract with the latter until 2025. [3] Maga made his competitive debut on 30 January 2022, in a 3–2 Primeira Liga away loss against F.C. Vizela.
He made his professional debut with Porto B as a late substitute in a 1–1 Liga Portugal 2 tie with Tondela on 15 January 2023.
