August 21 – Canada – At a level crossing in Leonard, Ontario (about 32 km [20 mi] east of Ottawa), a truck loaded with gravel smashed into a Canadian Pacific Railway train from Ottawa to Montreal, derailing the last 3 cars of the 7-car train.
