Peggy Moffitt, the actor and model who became a 1960s mod icon wearing designer Rudi Gernreich’s famous topless bathing suit design and other bold looks of the era, died Saturday in Beverly Hills.
Look was the first to publish, after LIFE refused, [21] a rear view of Moffitt modeling the swimsuit on June 2, 1964, [1] [22] and the following day columnist Carol Bjorkman of Women's Wear Daily published a frontal view picture of Moffitt wearing the suit.
