The Bison finished the 2023–24 season 22–12, 13–3 in Summit League play to finish in second place. This is currently NDSU's best finish since entering Division I. In the Summit League tournament the Bison defeated Denver and Oral Roberts in the quarterfinals and semifinals to reach their first ever championship game.
