Services of Supply became one of the three autonomous components of the Army of the United States on 9 March 1942. [1]
Casual Company, Casual Detachment, or Casual Platoon, sometimes shortened to simply Casual or abbreviated as CasCo, is a type of unit in the United States military. Subordinate to the Theater Sustainment Command and/or Expeditionary Sustainment Command, it is a vital component in the planning and execution of deployment, redeployment and distribution operations. The battalion exercises control of between four and ten movement control teams, which are assigned to key areas or transportation nodes.

In August 1942 the Military District of Washington also assumed the status of a service command. The Northwest Service Command was created in September 1942.
