The Archdiocese of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania is a diocese of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). Its territory includes parishes , monasteries , and missions located in three states in the United States – Pennsylvania , Ohio , and the entirety of West Virginia .
On October 11, 1993, the church received City of Pittsburgh Historic Designation as a local landmark. Trinity Cathedral is an Episcopal Church in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is the cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. [1]The present Gothic church was completed in 1872 on the site of a hilltop cemetery on land deeded by heirs of Pennsylvania founder William Penn to the congregation's founders. [2]
The original St. Paul Church was dedicated in 1833. When the diocese was established in 1843 St. Paul Church was chosen as the cathedral. It burnt down in 1851, but was replaced with a larger building in 1855. The first two St. Paul Cathedrals were located on Grant Street downtown. [4]
The Petersen Events Center (more commonly known as "The Pete" [3]) is a 12,508-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in the Oakland neighborhood.
