North Dakota Highway 1804 (ND 1804) is a state highway in the U.S. state of North Dakota.ND 1804 and ND 1806 were named to reflect the years of Lewis and Clark's travels through the area, and together constitute the portion of the Lewis and Clark Trail that runs through North Dakota along the northeast and southwest sides of Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River, respectively.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition gained an understanding of the geography of the Northwest and produced the first accurate maps of the area. During the journey, Lewis and Clark drew about 140 maps. Stephen Ambrose says the expedition "filled in the main outlines" of the area. [72]

The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail is a route across the United States commemorating the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804 to 1806. It is part of the National Trails System of the United States. It extends for some 4,900 miles (7,900 km) from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the mouth of the Columbia River in Oregon.
The famous historic map created by Lewis and Clark, detailing their expedition across northwest America, which forever changed mapping of the U.S. Among collectors, this map has become quite valuable, and even modern copies of it are expensive. The image had to remain large for all of the text to be readable.
