The 42 is a residential skyscraper in Kolkata, in the state of West Bengal, India. [7] [8] It is located on Chowringhee Road, the central business district of the city, between the commercial building of Tata Centre and the residential building of Jeevan Sudha. It was first proposed in 2008 but construction was delayed for nearly two years. [9]

Ward No. 42 is bordered on the north by Mahatma Gandhi Road, Cotton Street and Bartala Street; on the east by Rabindra Sarani; on the south by Raja Woodmunt Street, Biplabi Troilakaya Maharaj Sarani (earlier named Brabourne Road) with flyover and Biplabi Rashbehari Bose Road; and to the wet by Strand Road, C.I.T. Road, Netaji Subhas Road, Jagamohan Mallick Lane.
