Hey everyone, I was researching Furls crochet hooks and was interested if anyone has tried Furls crochet hooks I'm considering getting the Streamline hooks but I'm worried about using them for things like amigurumi after seeing several reviews that the break easily. if anyone has any advice or experience it would greatly be appreciated.
I was lured by furls hooks because they’re very pretty. I bought several before I decided that I don’t like them. I MUCH prefer my clover or tulip hooks which I use constantly. Save your money on the furls unless you just want to look at them. I don’t find that they make my hands more comfortable as they claim.
I've had two Furls hooks break not long after receiving them. I wasn't doing anything odd. Both a Streamline and an Odyssey, and they broke at the very same place. Getting them replaced was not quick or easy, and I haven't purchased anything of their products since receiving my replacement. Never broke any hook other than those Furls hooks.
I have 15 or so from them of various sizes and expense. The wood and finish really matters. The odyssey’s are too heavy, I think, though beautiful (I have the green and gold). I have had two hooks bust on me almost immediately upon use. I have had hooks where the grain of the wood makes the yarn rub really weird and stick.
i like furls odyssey hooks and the swirls hooks mostly because i learned how to crochet using metal and the slippery texture is what I'm used to. the wood hooks are nice but have a lot of tooth to them which is why i don't use the one i have that often. the handle weight goes wood < resin/swirls < odyssey (wood the lightest, odyssey the heaviest) so that is definitely a factor to keep in mind!
I love my furls streamlines, but there definitely was a bit of a learning curve to get comfortable with them -- I hadn't realized how much I depended on the flat grip on my bates hooks to make sure the hook hadn't twisted in the wrong direction! XD I have a few, ranging from 3.50 to 10mm (plus a 5.5mm tunisian hook!) and I'm very happy with them!
Good morning! I was looking for opinions from you lovely hookers on Furls crochet hooks. I love my Clover hooks, but in finding my hand cramping up the more that I crochet. I was looking at switching to either Etimo Tulip or Furls Odyssey because they look more ergonomic. I have heard stories about Furls breaking, though. What do you think??

Candy shop hooks are shorter and lighter and have a blunt end. They are almost too short for my liking, but overall I love them b/c they don’t split yarn often. If you have larger hands you may find them too short. You can always go to the FB Furls Crochet - buy, sell, trade page.
Furls kindly exchanged them for the Odyssey, nickel. I have been using them for over a month now, and will never go back to another hook. I like the extra weight in my hand and because the handle is wider, I am not squeezing down as much and am able to crochet much longer now.
