  2. Early 1940s "Standard" Tub Drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/early-1940s-standard-tub-drain.100381

I am renovating a house built in the early '40s and it has probably the original cast iron tub w/ probably replacement Sayco faucet and probably original "Standard" drain and overflow. The drain is my problem - it does not close. It is an odd design in that there is a rod that runs horizontally through the pipe below the drain opening. See photo.

  3. Very noisy bathtub drain - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/very-noisy-bathtub-drain.35962

The "gurgling" noise you hear is how I tell if a tub drain is working at its optimum best. When it does, it aspirates air into the water flow through the overflow. The faster the water is draining the more air it draws and the greater the noise level is. A drain that makes NO noise is almost plugged up.

  5. Gasket or putty under bathtub drain lip? - Love Plumbing &...

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/gasket-or-putty-under-bathtub-drain-lip...

I'm installing a new lift and turn bathtub drain. The new drain is packaged with a rubber gasket, and the instructions seem to show that the gasket goes underneath the drain lip (on top of the tub). The old drain had putty in that location. I've cleaned out all the old putty, and I found the ring and gasket underneath the tub intact.

  6. Tub Drain Connection in concrete slab - Love Plumbing & Remodel

I am remodeling a bathroom in my house and will be replacing the tub/tub drain as well. However, I am confused as to what I found when I demo'd the old stuff. I am attaching pictures, but I cannot tell how the old brass assembly is connected to the drain.

  7. Delta Acrylic Bathtub Drain Sealant - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/delta-acrylic-bathtub-drain-sealant.69083

NOTE: Drain/overflow assembly should be sized for 16 1/2” (41.91 cm) deep bathtub. ! Plumber’s putty will degrade bathtub material. Do not use plumber’s putty to seal between drain and bathtub. Use latex/acrylic sealant or a gasket." So nowhere does it say goop it up with the latex/acrylic sealant so that it seals those two layers.

  8. Moving Bathtub Drain from End to Center (With Picture)

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/moving-bathtub-drain-from-end-to-center...

I am needing to move the drain from where it is currently to somewhere around the head of the hammer. I busted out the cultured marble tub, and will be replacing it with a stand-alone tub, with a center-drain. It's my understanding that the trap needs to be directly under the drain if possible.

  9. Bathtub drain won't unscrew - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/bathtub-drain-wont-unscrew.59408

Trying to replace my old bathtub drain with a new one and am using a tool to remove the old one, but it doesn't seem to be coming out. The cross bars at the bottom are there and it catches the tool but it just spins and spins, doesn't ever seem to loosen or come up. This is what happens when I...

Does anyone know of an online supply where I can order a 2 inch bathtub drain. I'm working on a 1940 house and need to replace the tub drain assembly. The old drain is a 2 inch (yes I'm sure). I can get a 1 1/2 to just cover and seat, but I would rather replace with a 2 inch. Problem is I cant find one. Thx for the help.

  11. Old Crane bathtub stopper - HOW to remove it?

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/old-crane-bathtub-stopper-how-to-remove...

Crane Bathtub Waste Assembly Some older bathtub waste assemblies have the linkage inside the overflow and the bathtub shoe that are an integral part of it, this might be the case. Usually a 1/4" snake cable will by-pass the linkage and jump the trap to properly clean the drain line.
