246 votes, 113 comments. true. they use a cuneiform character for "nunuz" aka an egg in akkadian and sumerian languages. you can't type it out as i don't think cuneiform has a keyboard (officially at least), but you can google the name of the character and copy it since it's in unicode for displaying purposes.
What I mean by this is that some of my keys have a third symbol. For example, my 1st symbol would be a 8, then when I click shift + 8 I get *. But there is a third symbol and I don't know how to type it. The keyboard has keys like alt car, ctrl, fn, shift, and other keys that I think would probably assist in getting to that third symbol.

The use as a shorthand for 'approximately' derives from the visual similarity to the varieties of the approximately-equals symbol '≈' which is also often presented as a straight lower dash and a wavy upper, or as an equals sign overstruck with a tilde. I just discovered a much faster way to use the ohm symbol (iPhone) without having to install new keyboards or having to change screens to copy and paste it from Google. Just go to: Settings, General, Keyboard, Text Replacement and tap the + at the top right of screen to add a shortcut. Copy the ohm symbol: Ω
