Butler County is a county located in the US state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 Census, the population was 12,371. [1] Its county seat is Morgantown. [2] The county was formed in 1810, becoming Kentucky's 53rd county. [3] Butler County is included in the Bowling Green, Kentucky, Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Confederate-Union Veterans' Monument in front of the Butler County Courthouse in Morgantown, Kentucky, was built in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War, which helped alleviate the bitterness both sides felt toward the other when it was dedicated to the sacrifice of veterans of both sides of the Civil War.

Needmore is located about 10 miles (16 km) south of Morgantown at coordinates 37.111°N, -86.651°W. It is located at the junction of US 231 and KY 1083. [2] It can be accessed directly from I-165 from Exit 7 near Bowling Green or from Exit 26 near Morgantown.
