Orange County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York.As of the 2020 census, the population was 401,310.The county seat is Goshen. [4] This county was first created in 1683 and reorganized with its present boundaries in 1798. [5]

The region was once called Woodbury Clove ("valley"), and not to be confused with Woodbury, Nassau County, Long Island, New York. The town of Woodbury (which comprises the hamlets of Central Valley and Highland Mills) and the area formerly known as the hamlet of Woodbury Falls was officially created on December 19, 1889, by an act of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

The building was designed by noted architect and dean of the Yale School of Architecture Paul Rudolph in 1963 and built in 1967. A courtyard divided the portion of the building hosting the executive and legislative branches from the half that hosted County Court until the late 1990s, when the state's Court Facilities Capital Review Board deemed the old courthouse unfit for use.
