Basketball Club Žalgiris (Lithuanian: Krepšinio klubas Žalgiris) commonly known as BC Žalgiris, is a professional basketball club based in Kaunas, Lithuania.They compete domestically in the Lithuanian Basketball League (Lietuvos krepšinio lyga) and internationally as a long-term licensed EuroLeague team.

The 2021–22 BC Žalgiris season is the 78th season in the existence of the club.The club has been playing in the Betsafe-LKL, King Mindaugas Cup and the EuroLeague.Coach Martin Schiller, who served as the team's head coach the previous season, was shortly after the season began replaced by Jure Zdovc in October 2021.
The club was founded as FM Spyris Kaunas in 2004, became the football section of basketball club Žalgiris Kaunas and moved to their current stadium, the Darius and Girėnas Stadium, in 2015. After their debut season in the A Lyga, the club adopted the name FK Kauno Žalgiris in 2016.
BC Žalgiris-2 is the reserve team of the professional basketball club Žalgiris Kaunas. Founded as LKKA-Žalgiris in 1999, the team competes in the National Basketball League (NKL), the second division of Lithuanian basketball. The team plays its home games at the Žalgiris training center in Kaunas.
The Žalgiris Arena replaced the Kaunas Sports Hall as a major venue in the city. The Žalgirio Arena is used to host basketball games as well as concerts. The arena's namesake basketball club BC Žalgiris, which currently competes in the domestic LKL and the EuroLeague, uses the facility for all of its European and LKL home fixtures.
Former logo (2006–2013) Sportklub, formerly rendered as Sport Klub, is a subscription sports television service which has been broadcast in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia since 2006, Croatia from 2007 and in North Macedonia from 2011.
The original eight teams were: Žalgiris Kaunas, Atletas Kaunas, Drobė Kaunas, Statyba Vilnius, Olimpas Plungė, BC Šilutė, Lietkabelis Panevėžys and Neptūnas Klaipėda. This association would soon be renamed to Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) due to legal issues, also announcing there that would start in the upcoming fall. [2]
