This article lists all of the major champions from each of the events held yearly at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), National Finals Steer Roping (NFSR), and National Finals Breakaway Roping (NFBR). Barrel racing and breakaway roping are sanctioned by the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA).
It began in 1947 as a single organization in Texas (National Championship High School Rodeo Association), and has grown to include local organizations in most U.S. states and in Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. It has over 12,000 members and sanctions over 1,800 rodeos every year.
Wesley Silcox (born May 30, 1985) is an American former professional rodeo cowboy who specialized in bull riding. He competed in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and Championship Bull Riding (CBR) circuits, and was the 2007 PRCA World Champion bull rider.
He took up rodeo in the early 1950s and soon specialized in saddle bronc riding. He won his first professional rodeo championship in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1953. [2] He made six almost perfect rides at that event. [3] He rode at Nebraska as an amateur but won the saddle bronc riding and most of the day money.
Induction into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame is the highest honor for rodeo contestants participating in the PRCA today. [1] Contestants are honored in several categories on a yearly basis. Justin McBride was born and lived in Belton, Texas, until he later moved to Mullen, Nebraska, with his parents and older brother.His father worked on a ranch and rode bulls; his maternal grandfather was killed in a bull-riding event the year before McBride was born. [4]
