The 2007 iMac only got dropped with macOS 10.12, which was released in 2016. That's 9 years of full support. The original 2008 MacBook Air, on the other hand, got dropped with macOS 10.8 which was released in 2012, so it only got 4 years of full support.
Hi, there. I am in desperate need of help: Our Macbook Air M1 with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD arrived just yesterday evening. I updated it to Big Sur 11.1 and then proceeded to restore from a TimeMachine backup of our mac Mini M1 running Big Sur 11.1. It was a fresh TimeMachine on an USB-C SSD. It...
2019 Macbook Air, 18W charger: - Will slowly charge with normal tasks (Safari, Pages, Keynote). - Won't charge when using apps that use a lot of resources (like FCPX editing). - Will slowly lose battery percentage when pushing the laptop (like FCPX rendering) With M1 Air and 20W charger it will be only better than this.
The 30W charger from the MacBook Air definitely doesn't have enough power to supply both USB-C and USB-A ports on my Caldigit SOHO dock. My M1 MacBook Air goes to sleep when using clamshell mode if I plug in an ethernet adapter and then a thumb drive. I guess if the charge falls off, the power circuit thinks the MBA isn't plugged in to the charger.
This is why I caution anyone buying the m1 MacBook Air if they’re going to keep it more then 3 years. I am wondering if M1 pro/max/ultra will be supported for longer. I know with iPads the X series of chips always received longer support but in the pas with the mac apple doesn’t care about hardware as much as they care about age.
I've been looking for a mouse for my M1 MacBook Air that doesn't cause lag when using it. There seems to be a lag/stuttering issue with the M1's with using mice over Bluetooth. What mouse is everyone using with their MacBook Air over Bluetooth with no issues? Thanks in advance.
Ideally I'd get the 16GB M1 Air for peace of mind, but I have points at a store which would more or less cover the cost of the base 8GB Air. Also they only sell base models, so no chance of putting money to and getting the 16GB. I've seen numerous videos showing Lightroom working ok, but no...
Speaking for myself: I'm using an M1 Mac mini – a system similar to your MacBook Air – and I don't perceive a drop in performance; I intend to continue upgrading to new OS releases in the future. (I haven't yet installed OS 18.1, though, which sounds like something of a fundamental architecture shift with the big Apple Intelligence features.
I can confirm that my Macbook Pro M1 outputs 4K/60Hz with the Apple AV adapter. The details in 'System Information' look identical to direct output with a USB-C to Displayport cable. However, some devices (eg. my Pixelbook Go) only output 4K/60Hz via Displayport, so this cable remains my preference (using a Caldigit Soho).
