Country codes are defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in ITU-T standards E.123 and E.164. The prefixes enable international direct dialing (IDD). Landline phone numbers begin with the area code, then one digit for the operator code, then six digits for the primary telephone number. Format: (XXX Y ZZZZZZ) where: "xxx" denotes the area code.
