This template should not be used in articles. It should only be used on talk pages and project pages. This template is a shortcut for {{ Talk quote inline }} that automatically adds italics, functioning like {{ Talk quote inline |i=y}} .
This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible. To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:
Main page; Contents; Current events; Random article; About Wikipedia; Contact us; Donate
Italics may also be used where <dfn> tags or {} templates mark a term's first use, definition, introduction, or distinguished meaning on the page. As <dfn> tags and {{ dfn }} templates do not apply text formatting, the italicization (or quoting) must be added if intended.
Templates such as {} and {} are helpful when an apostrophe (or single quote) appears at the beginning or end of text in italics or bold, because italics and bold are themselves indicated by sequences of single quotes. Example: Dynasty 's first season (markup: ''Dynasty''{{'s}} first season).
Templates relating to quotations. For quotations in articles, either <blockquote>...</blockquote> or the {{ Quote }} template should suffice. Templates that add quotation marks, especially decorative ones such as {{ Cquote }} , are reserved for pull quotes (i.e. should be avoided in articles).
Use of the {} template in particular should not be done in citation templates, except in the |quote= parameter (which is free-form text and does not generate metadata). Do not inject or the template {} into a work title. If it seems important to use, do it after the title.
