  2. Jean Simmons in Roman Holiday - the Data Lounge

    www.datalounge.com/thread/31026364-jean-simmons-in-roman-holiday

Jean Simmons was the original choice for Roman Holiday long before anyone even knew who anorexic Audrey Hepburn was. William Wyler even was ready to cancel the movie when Simmons was not allowed to be loaned out for this role. A pity she didn't get the chance to play it because while she already was a popular star, this would have likely won ...

  3. Why was Jean Simmons not nominated for an Oscar for Elmer Gantry?

Jean Simmons was robbed of a nomination for Elmer Gantry - she is great in the film, as she always was. She deserved more than 2 nominations in her career but it is still better than most actresses get. Home Before Dark was another Jean Simmons performance that should have gained her a nomination. by Anonymous.

  4. Heather Sears - the Data Lounge

Such a fine actress in Room at the Top and Sons and Lovers. I wonder why she didn’t make the sequel - Life at the Top, although Jean Simmons was terrific. Talk about a vanishing talent who is rarely spoken about these days… She also co-starred with DL fave Joan Crawford in Esther Costello

March 11, 2016 1:50 PM. Harvey did a marvelous star turn on Rod Serling's Night Gallery. It co-starred his good friend Joanna Pettet. He supposedly stayed off his pain meds for his cancer during this performance. Written by Rod Serling the episode was named "The Caterpillar" and it has a particularly horrific twist ending.

  6. Best underrated noir movie - the Data Lounge

Jean Simmons descends the stair with prominent nipples and plays the piano a melancholy music of death while killing someone she loves . I think it is a perfect portrayal of a psychopath, mostly due to all erros done.

Jean Simmons was just perfect for that role, as she has that dark air about her. One can totally believe she is a murdering witch, but at the same time one can also feel very sorry for her. I think that probably is the best, exactly for the reasons you describe.

February 11, 2024 6:40 AM. They're all turning into shriveled-up zombies. Ozzy had to do decades of heavy drugs to look like a corpse. Sharon, Aimee, and Kelly did it in a week with a cut-rate plastic surgeon in Sylmar. by Anonymous.

July 29, 2024 1:29 AM. No one could call THE THORNBIRDS great art, but it's melodramatic, even operatic, in a pretty entertaining way, especially with some wonderful actors on board ("Missy," of course, but also Richard Kiley, Jean Simmons, Christopher Plummer, even DL fave Mare Winningham and WEHT Philip Anglim). by Anonymous.

Faye Dunaway as Milady de Winter in "The Three Musketeers" Linda Fiorentino in "The Last Seduction" Kathleen Turner in "Serial Mom". Those are indeed two great performances in "The Three Musketeers" and "Serial Mom," but neither of those films qualify as film noir. Serial Mom, everyone’s favorite film noir.
