Salmaniya Medical Complex (Arabic: مجمع السلمانية الطبي) is a public hospital situated in the Salmaniya district of Manama in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Established in 1957 and having a bed capacity of approximately 1,200 beds, it is the largest tertiary hospital in the country. [ 1 ]
[3] Custodianship of the psychiatric hospital was transferred to the Department of Health in 1948. Dr. R.H.B. Snow, the State Medical Officer for the Government of Bahrain at the time, oversaw the refurbishment of the hospital; the facility was repainted, and for the first time, patients were encouraged to spend time outside their cells. Jameela (or Jamila) Al Salman graduated from medical school at the Arabian Gulf University, with Honors. [1] In 1996, she joined the Salmaniya Medical Complex in the Salmaniya district of Manama, in the Kingdom of Bahrain. [2] Al Salman still works as a consultant at the Salmaniya Medical Complex Infectious and Internal Diseases. [3]
The former Minister was Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh [3] [4] serving in this position from 1 October 2015. [5] She had also served earlier in Bahrain's Cabinet, as the Minister of Social Development during 2014–2015. Earlier to that, she was the Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS)—Head of Social Affairs Sector.

The Water Garden is also situated in Salmaniya. It was first opened in 1948 and is spread over 6.5 hectares of land. It was closed for renovations for six years in the late 2010s and was reopened in January 2023. [1] In April 2024, parts of Salmaniya flooded in the aftermath of heavy rain in the Gulf region.
Al-Mousawi then joined Salmaniya Medical Complex in 1976, where he became a consultant orthopedic surgeon and rose to director of surgery and chief physician in 1982. In 1984, he was promoted to Assistant Undersecretary for Training and Planning at the Ministry of Health in 1984.
