Opened on June 18, 2006, the college was established by the Mapúa University in 2006 to expand its presence in Laguna, bringing its renowned engineering, maritime, and technological education to Southern Luzon. [4] A branch was also established in Davao in 2018, marking the official start of the institutions' operations in Mindanao. [5]
The Mapúa Institute of Technology at Laguna (MITL) is the flagship college of the Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna. The college is under the Mapúa School of Engineering in the Philippines. MITL is among the three pioneer colleges under MCL. It offers architecture and seven engineering programs.
April 10, 2008 marked an event for Malayan Colleges Laguna, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mapua Institute of Technology, and Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc., one of the country’s largest crew management companies, as they launched the Mapúa-PTC College of Maritime Education and Training.
