Village Inn was founded by James Mola and Merton Anderson, who opened the first Village Inn Pancake House in Denver in 1958 at 8855 East Colfax Avenue. [5] [6] They incorporated as Village Inn Pancake House, Inc., in December 1959, and began franchising in 1961, with Dow Sherwood opening the first franchised locations in Tampa, Florida.
In 1979, the Falls Village District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as an historic district. The district represents about 70 acres (280,000 m 2 ) that were built in the middle of the 19th century as a result of the area being selected as a station stop for the Housatonic Railroad in the early 1830s. By 1976, Jerry Zurovski was managing a Village Inn location in Lincoln. Four years later, Jerry and Melanie had moved to Sioux Falls. They purchased the Village Inn from Donaldson on April 14, 1980.

The Old Riverton Inn is a historic hotel and tavern at 436 East River Road in the Riverton village of Barkhamsted, Connecticut. Built in 1811, it has been in continuous operation as a traveler's accommodation since then. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. [1]
