The installation of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong took place on 20 July 2024, [1] a few months after Ibrahim ascended the throne on 31 January 2024 at Balairung Seri, Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur. The office of the governor is established by article 1(1) of the Constitution of Sarawak. The position is appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after consultation with the premier.
