The National Watercolor Society was established by Dana Bartlett in 1920, who was its first president, as the California Water Color Society. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] In 1967, the members of the society decided to rename the society as the California National Watercolor Society .
Alexandra Bradshaw, also known as Alexandra Bradshaw Hoag (April 20, 1888 – September 23, 1981), was a Canadian-American watercolor artist and art professor. She studied art in the United States and Paris and became an instructor and head of the Fine Arts department at Fresno State College in California.
