Tarneit railway station is a regional railway station on the Deer Park-West Werribee line, part of the Victorian railway network. It serves the western suburb of Tarneit, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Tarneit station is a ground level premium station, featuring two side platforms. It opened on 14 June 2015. [2]
The line runs from Flinders Street station in central Melbourne to Werribee station in the south-west, serving 17 stations via Footscray, Newport, and Altona. [2] The line operates for approximately 19 hours a day (from approximately 5:00 am to around 12:00 am) with 24 hour service available on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Deer Park–West Werribee railway line was built as part of the Regional Rail Link project, with the aim of increasing capacity on the rail network by separating regional and suburban passenger services in Melbourne's west.
The Regional Rail Link included two new stations to be served by Geelong V/Line trains: Tarneit and Wyndham Vale. Since its opening, overcrowding has become a persistent and chronic issue, especially at Tarneit, which is the most-used V/Line station other than Southern Cross. [16]
Sherwood Park station was one of 2 new stations to open in the early 2000s. Since transfer to V/Line, five new stations have opened on the line: Marshall station in 2004, Sherwood Park station, near Warrnambool, in 2006, Waurn Ponds station in 2014, and Tarneit and Wyndham Vale in 2015. [18] [19]
Tarneit station rapidly became the second busiest on the V/Line network after Southern Cross. [48] That has worsened the chronic overcrowding on peak-hour Geelong trains, as well as slowing of journey times. [49] [50] As a result, there have been calls for the other three planned stations on the Tarneit section of the RRL to be constructed. [48]

Tarneit West railway station is a proposed railway station on the Deer Park-West Werribee railway line in Victoria, Australia. Tarneit West station is proposed to be located east of Davis Road, and is planned to be opened in 2026.
