The Bishop Mountain Lookout, located in Island Park, Idaho, was created between 1936 and 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, and its cabin is currently available as reserved accommodations through the United States Forest Service.

The Idaho Centennial Trail (ICT) is a 995.6 mile (1602.26 km) scenic trail through the state of Idaho. It passes through various ecosystems, including high desert canyon lands in Southern Idaho to wet mountain forests in Northern Idaho. Island Park Caldera has the smaller and younger Henry's Fork Caldera nested inside it. [1] The caldera clearly visible today is the later Henry's Fork Caldera, which is the source of the Mesa Falls Tuff. It was formed 1.3 Ma in an eruption of more than 280 km 3 (67 cu mi).
