Fair Haven is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Fair Haven, Vermont in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,269 at the 2010 census . [ 3 ]
The home was the first in Fair Haven to have electricity. After he died, Allen left the mansion to his four children: Charles R., Ira R., Jessie A., and Francis. Charles R. Allen and his wife Jessie Dailey Allen lived on the property before he and his brothers sold their shares in 1889 to their sister, Jessie, for $15,000.00.

Edmonton was created as a separate settlement from Fort Edmonton by the HBC on October 29, 1881. [1] Edmonton was incorporated as a town in 1892 and became a city in 1904. On May 13, 1912, the HBC put the 1,600-acre (650 ha) Hudson's Bay Company Reserve on the market, prompting a land rush .
The house was built in 1798-1800 for Simeon Smith, a wealthy businessman who had moved to the area (then part of Fair Haven) in 1787 from northwestern Connecticut. Smith's relationship with the designer William Sprat is not well understood.
