The China Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO) is a math competition with a proof-based format similar to the International Mathematical Olympiad. The competition is organized by the Chinese Mathematical Society. Owing to the fact that girls are outnumbered by boys in mathematical competitions, this competition was created specifically for girls.
Provincial mathematics societies often hold preliminary tests to pre-select students for the National High School Mathematics Competition, although these tests do not constitute a part of the official IMO team selection process. Then, based on the results, each province is allocated a quota to enter the Chinese Mathematical Olympiad.
